January's meeting was not much of an event,no heating in the room, this being due to them not having us booked in.
Peter, Ronald, ken, Peter White and myself attended.
As the theme was "what did you get for christmas?"that is what we focused on for the first half of the meeting.
Ronald had some interesting books.
Ken some very nice flats.
I had brought along some toy figures representing the home front in1941.
The AGM was talked about I shall draw up voting slips, can you let members now through our web site that it is the AGM next month.
Sadly it was a short meeting due to lack of heating .
See you next month, Jim.

December meeting was our “social” and was a bit quiet as we only had 4 members and 2 spouses in attendance but we had a pleasant evening all the same. I also previewed the new club stands which are easier to put up, more compact to transport and a good bit lighter!

I have updated our web pages with photos from Bugle call 2011 and dates for next year’s show.

Jan is “What did you get for Christmas” so bring along all your latest acquisitions!

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy modelling in the New Year!

Cheers, Bob

November Meeting
This was the prep for our annual show Bugle Call   See you all there.  All hands to the pumps guys!
Jim's Jabberings, October meeting
There was a good attendence for our quest speaker Paul Lawday.
Pauls subject was the Grenadier Guards their customs and traditions.
Paul arrived well equiped with an asortment of books and models to enhance his talk,so we knew we were in for a good evening.
We were not disappointed as Paul gave us a comprehensive and entertaining talk on the history and traditons of the Grenadiers.
We learnt that the guards have ranks, customs, traditions and excentricities unknown to other regiments, but above all they are a
band of brothers, and now sisters, in fact a family.
Bob had nothing but positive items to report about Bugle Call.
So see you all at the next meeting or on the internet, Jim.
Jims jabberings.
Septembers meeting was competition night.
Attending were Peter White, Jim Dew, Bob Orr,Ken Acton,Ronald MacMillan, Paul Lawday and Peter Sturgeon.
The competition entries were.
Ken, a trio of his diarama flats.(superb paintwork ).
Peter, a entertaining group of W11 figures.
Jim, a group of mounted Spanish Garde Civil.
Paul, three excellent figures of two Grenadier Guardsmen.and great bust of Tommy Atkins.
Ronald, did not enter but had bought along a large group comprising of soldiers with their ladies.
These were admired by all for their composition and paint work.
Now for the result, the winner is (long pause ) Paul, well deserved.
Bob bought us news of shows attended and a update from Kevin and himself on Bugle Call, (all good news).
The October meeting will be a guest speaker.
See you then, Jim Dew.
Well I made it to the August meeting, first one for a long time and it was good to be among friends and fellow modellers.  The theme was "your favourite model".  Mine is usually the one I'm working on at that moment in time.  I have 2 on the go at the moment, a bust of a soldier from the Peninsula war sculptured by our own Robert Lane (and what a first class job he has done) and a 200mm Coldstream Guard.  Yes that's what I said a Coldstream Guard!  Shock horror you say but it is a nice figure by Maurice Corry.  I hope to get the bust done for The Avon IPMS show at Yate later this month.  Kevin had a plethora of new busts and painted ones, all up to his usual great standard.  Bob had the same bust as I had, but hadn't started it yet but I expect he will do a first class job as always.  Jims coach was spectacular. Peter and Ronald had officers on parade, all in good order in the old Britton's gloss painted style.  All in all it was a very good meeting.  With any luck I will be at the next one.  However I will see you all at Yate on the 21st.  Anyway, thats all for now.

Don't let your paint brushes dry out.

Jims Jabberings on the July Meeting
First we must thank Ronald for his magnifient effort in researching and organising our annual quiz.
There were plenty of brain teaser questions to answer, and photo plates of uniforms, planes and navy's to agonise over.
There were two teams. Team A Ken Acton, Peter White and Bob Orr.Team B Peter Sturgeon and Jim Dew.
And the winners were................................................................................. Team B.
Only by a few points ahead in a very a close contest.
Apologises from Paul .
A fun night all in all, but how much more exciting with larger teams.
There are no plans for August, so has anybody got any ideas.
Here is one idea. Bring along your favourite figure.
Jim Dew. meeting.
p.s.  Once again Ronald's excellent quiz showed up just how little I know of Military History!  Bob
Jims Jabberings on the June meeting.
There was a good attendance for the talk by Peter White on traditions of the Royal Navy. Peter held our attention with his knowledge of the traditions and history of the Royal Navy, and his many anecdotes of his time served aboard the ships of her Majesties Britannic Navy. A most enjoyable evening.
Next motnh is quiz night, hosted by Ronald. So swat up on your reference books and hope to see you at the July meeting.
 Jim Dew.

May Meeting.

Well guys we had another quiet meeting with only me Peter and Ronald turning up on the night. Apologies rec'd from Robert, and Paul who were working and Jim who was off on holiday the next day very early!

What I would like to know is why was nobody else there? Are we not providing what you want? If so what do we have to do to get better attendance? At £15 a night it is not economical to continue on this basis so either we have to think about fewer meetings or do something to up the attendance. Next month’s meeting is a talk on naval traditions so I am hoping for a good turnout.

Next on the agenda is the South Devon show at Newton Abbot racecourse on Saturday 14th May. Kevin and I are going with a stand and would welcome any additional help if you are able to attend.

I would like you input so let me know what we have to do to get your regular attendance at the monthly meetings.

Regards, Bob
